Boy band / Girl group

Groups consisting only of boys or girls, whose music is specifically aimed at the teenage market and is therefore simple and unpretentious in nature, stylistically mostly in line with prevailing commercial trends. Usually the vehicle of a particular producer and/or songwriter(s), whether or not commissioned by a record company. Boy bands and girlgroups are in principle always vocal and dance groups and usually composed with the help of auditions. The genre flourished in the fifties, when producers like Shadow Morton and Phil Spector used the girl groups as vehicles for their monumental productions. In the 1990s, it was mainly the boy bands that came to the fore. The marketing concept (dances, posters, clips) began to outstrip the importance of music more and more.
